Dense phase – high pressure, lower velocities than typical dilute phase, but without “Air Assist”.

All energy is introduced at transport vessel. Requires higher pressures than “Air Assist” type systems, resulting in higher terminal velocities. Compressed air required at 50 – 100 psig.

Advantages:
• Eliminates the need of rotary airlock for abrasive materials
• Relatively high tonnage
• Usually smaller pipe diameter and filter size than dilute phase
Disadvantages:
• Not suited for long distances
• Not well suited for fragile materials
• High pressure requirements resulting in high velocities
